He didn’t know what time it was or how long he had been here in the sand, but he knew it was the same as it ever was awakening with the sand in places he didn’t think sand could be and the aches of his former night. Over time they felt far more like his people than the Alliance ever had.Īlbert opened his eyes to the bright sun above. The Horde welcomed his people and they helped each other through. He’d lost family in the Second War fighting for the Alliance and lost yet more when they decided to massacre loyal Blood Elf citizens in Dalaran during the trouble in Pandaria. So the posh buggers at the peak of Silvermoon’s hierarchy, through enough intermediaries to ensure plausible deniability of course, were seeking someone to be a man on the inside who could provide them with all the intel and dirty little secrets that could be used against the group. A dissident group was consorting with the Alliance and dabbling in dark magics that shouldn’t be invoked.

TW: for a little gore late in the story… Aftermath All you need to know is his name is Xelavyr and he’s a Void Elf Rogue. I’m still fleshing him out but I know enough to do this story. Good girl, Tsume.” She whispered, before her attention returned to the surrounding landscape, waiting for the quick pre-story note… this is for a character I haven’t written or written about yet. Even without decent sleep, Hai’s senses were still sharp.įeeling a nudge at her side, a soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips, reaching down to pat the bakar’s head - another followup show of affection for the ottuk that joined them. This wasn’t the first time she’d been in battle, nor would it be the last. That looming tension had been too much to allow her to fall asleep as well, so instead she opted to take watch, even though she’d already had a shift earlier. Many others, she could tell, were thinking the exact same thing. A bit of respite was nice, but she had a feeling it would not last for long. She was grateful, but she couldn’t allow herself to properly relax. Her thoughts back to the encounter had been broken mid-clean, a drink being offered down to her. “Thankyou.” A simple reply was given with a bow of her head. Hai had given them no opportunity to attack her further - she had started a sprint towards cover, Kiba scouting ahead of her, barely able to see him through the thick smoke. Her reaction had been to activate the needle-like darts that had been hidden in a mechanism underneath the unsuspecting metal cover - her assailiant reeling back with a screech as the darts struck their face, point blank.

A primalist had grabbed her, fury in their eyes and shadowflame erupting from their hands. Hai’s focus shifted to her mechanical arm - blood splattered up her forearm and mechanical plates slightly shifted out of place. Her companions took to either side of her - Kiba, the large bakar resting his head in her lap, and Tsume, her ottuk who curled up close to her, her head lowered, but still wary and protective. Licking her lips, the pandaren slowly made her way over towards the campfire, picking a spot to finally rest her legs, not too close to the others, but not far away where she couldn’t hear or engage in conversation either.

If anyone had thought she looked scruffy beforehand, she couldn’t imagine what they would think upon seeing her now. Her armor was battered more than usual, singe marks making quite the pattern over her covered body, and sweat dampened her fur and face.

Survival skills could only get one so far, until she was escaping by the skin of her teeth. An observation that Hai had heard multiple times, though there was no lie there.
